Overview

ViJAYEE Scholarship App ("ViJAYEE", "we", "our", or "us") is operated by We Developers, a company registered in India. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect personal data when you use our mobile application ("App") and website at vijayee.com ("Website"), collectively the "Services".

By creating an account or using the Services, you (or, for a minor, the parent or guardian completing registration) agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

Because ViJAYEE is designed for students from 1st through 8th standard, many of our users are minors. We take this responsibility seriously and have built our data practices with children's safety as a first priority.

Information we collect

We collect only the data necessary to provide and improve the Services.

Account & registration data

• Student profile: Name, class/standard, preferred medium (English, Marathi, or Hindi), and profile photo (optional).
• Contact: Mobile number used for account creation and OTP verification. An email address may optionally be added.
• Parent/guardian details: Where provided during account setup, the parent's name and mobile number for parental notifications.

Learning & usage data

• Questions attempted, answers given, scores, accuracy, and time spent per question or test.
• Streaks, badges earned, leaderboard rank, and referral activity.
• Chapters, subjects, and topics accessed; practice session history.

Device & technical data

• Device type, operating system version, app version, and unique device identifiers (e.g., Android Advertising ID where permitted).
• IP address, approximate location (city/state level only, derived from IP), crash logs, and performance data.
• Push notification tokens to deliver alerts you have opted into.

Payment data

Subscription payments are processed via UPI. We receive only a transaction confirmation and masked UPI ID. We do not store full card numbers, CVV codes, or any other sensitive payment credentials.

Communications

When you contact our support team, we retain the content of those messages to resolve your issue and improve our service.

Data we do not collect

We do not collect government-issued ID numbers, biometric data, caste, religion, or any sensitive personal data beyond what is listed above.

How we use information

We process personal data only for the following purposes:

• Service delivery: Creating and managing accounts, personalising practice to the student's standard and medium, tracking progress, and awarding streaks and badges.
• Testing & assessments: Generating test results, calculating ranks, and displaying leaderboards using chosen display names only.
• Parental visibility: Providing parents or guardians with progress summaries and activity notifications when they are linked to a student account.
• Communications: Sending OTPs, important service announcements, and (where opted in) exam reminders and promotional notifications via SMS, email, or in-app push.
• Support: Responding to queries, troubleshooting, and resolving disputes.
• Safety & integrity: Detecting fraud, cheating, or abuse; enforcing our Terms of Service.
• Analytics & improvement: Understanding aggregate usage patterns to improve question quality, app performance, and user experience. We use anonymised or aggregated data wherever possible.
• Legal obligations: Complying with applicable Indian law, including court orders and requests from competent authorities.

We do not use your data for automated profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects, nor do we sell your data to advertisers.

Sharing & disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers: Trusted vendors who operate under data processing agreements with us — including cloud hosting (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud), push notification delivery, and analytics. They may access data only to perform services on our behalf.
• Schools & institutions: If your school has a ViJAYEE institutional account, aggregate (never individual) performance reports may be shared with school administrators, as disclosed at sign-up.
• Legal requirements: When required by applicable Indian law, regulation, court order, or a request from a competent government authority.
• Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred. We will notify users via in-app notice or email before data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
• With consent: For any other purpose, only with your explicit prior consent.

Leaderboards always show a chosen display name — never your real name, or school name unless you have explicitly set those as your display name.

Children’s privacy

ViJAYEE is designed primarily for children under 18. We comply with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDP Act) regarding the processing of children's data, and align with international best practices.

• Parental consent: For students under 18, we require verifiable parental or guardian consent before processing personal data. During account creation, a parent or guardian must confirm consent via OTP on the registered mobile number.
• Minimal data collection: We collect only the data strictly necessary to provide the learning service — no social media integration, no behavioural advertising, and no sharing of children's data with third parties for marketing.
• Parental access & control: Parents and guardians may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their child's data at any time by contacting us at vijayee@wedevelopers.in.
• No targeted advertising to children: We do not serve interest-based or behavioural advertisements to users identified as minors.
• Safe leaderboards: Student leaderboards display only a chosen display name and school-level aggregates. Personal contact information is never publicly visible.

Data retention

We retain personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. Specifically:

• Active accounts: Profile and learning data are retained for the duration of the account.
• After account deletion: Most personal data is deleted within 30 days of a confirmed deletion request. Anonymised, aggregate data (with no link to an individual) may be retained indefinitely for product improvement.
• Financial records: Transaction records are retained for 7 years as required under Indian tax and accounting law.
• Support communications: Retained for up to 2 years after the issue is closed.

Data security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, alteration, or disclosure:

• All data transmitted between the App/Website and our servers is encrypted.
• Access to production systems and databases is restricted to authorised personnel and protected by multi-factor authentication.
• We conduct periodic security reviews and vulnerability assessments.
• In the event of a data breach that is likely to result in risk to individuals, we will notify affected users and, where required, the relevant authority under applicable Indian law, within the timeframes prescribed by law.

No system is completely secure. We encourage you to contact us immediately at vijayee@wedevelopers.in if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

Third-party services

The App integrates with a small number of third-party services to function. Each has its own privacy policy:

We do not integrate third-party advertising SDKs that track children across apps or websites.

Your rights & choices

Subject to applicable law, you (or a parent/guardian acting on behalf of a minor) have the following rights:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Update inaccurate or incomplete information directly in the app under Profile settings, or by contacting us.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data. Requests are processed within 30 days.
• Withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
• Notifications: Opt out of non-essential push notifications at any time in the App's notification settings or your device settings.
• Grievance redressal: Lodge a complaint with our Grievance team (details below) and, if unresolved, with the relevant data protection authority under the DPDP Act 2023.

DPDP Act 2023 (India)

We process personal data in accordance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023. As a Data Fiduciary, we are committed to the following principles:

• Purpose limitation: Data is collected for specified, clear, and lawful purposes and is not used beyond those purposes.
• Data minimisation: We collect only data that is necessary for the stated purpose.
• Accuracy: We take reasonable steps to ensure personal data is accurate and up to date.
• Storage limitation: Personal data is not retained beyond the period necessary or required by law.
• Consent management: Consent is obtained in a clear, informed, and unambiguous manner before processing. Users can withdraw consent at any time.

Policy changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by displaying a notice in the App and, where required by law, by seeking fresh consent. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Services after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
